A search of the following site shows that there have still been no CARLOCK or CARELOCK
submissions to The Old Mecklenburg County Heritage Book Project 1763-2000:

If you presently live in Mecklenburg Co., NC, or have ancestry from that area, please
consider submitting an article for publication in this book. An upcoming workshop is even
being planned to help people write such articles. According to the Olde Mecklenburg
Genealogical Society at the following site, "the original county was much larger. It
was taken from a portion of Anson County, and included most of what is today Union,
Cabarrus, Gaston, Lincoln, Cleveland, Rutherford, and all other counties westward to the
Mississippi. Upper portions of the present day South Carolina were once part of
Mecklenburg. The present size was established in 1842."
