The name Frederick CARELOCK, Sr., (s/o David GERLACH/CARLOCK, Hans GERLACH) appears among
the signatures on an undated (probably 1792) petition concerning public buildings for the
newly-formed Cabarrus County, NC, a transcription of which can be found at the following
site:
http://www.angelfire.com/nc/benjthomasofansonnc/cabpet.html
The petition refers in the first sentence to an act of assembly passed in 1792, and
Frederick is believed to have died in December of 1792.
Frederick and his family lived in the portion of Mecklenburg Co., NC, which because
Cabarrus County in 1792.
My 6th gr.-grandfather George W. CARLOCK/CEARLOCK, b. ca. 1779, NC, is believed to be a
grandson of Frederick, most likely through David CARLOCK who was in Mecklenburg Co., NC,
in 1803, and Warren Co., KY, 1810. This is also believed to be the same David CARLOCK who
is mentioned as working on a road in Tazewell Co., VA, in 1753, along with "Frederick
Garlock ... George and Conrad Carlock, Frederick Stern." See the following archived
