My 3rd Gr. Grandfather was Robert CARDWELL b. ca. 1813-1816

Virginia. He moved to Butler Co., Kentucky in 1830. He m. Nancy J.
MOORE in KY. He d. 4-25-1877 in a house fire.

KY. He m. Angeline FLENER on 4-5-1860 in Butler Co., KY.
They had a daughter named Sarah CARDWELL b. 5-4-1872. She m.

MITCHELL. She d. 9-30-1938 in Butler Co., KY
I'd like any info on Robert's ancestors. I think his parent's
names
may have been William and Sarah, but I'm not sure.
OK OK Enough foolishness!From the research of Dr. Robert Cardwell of
Texas, dec'd.
Robert Cardwell was the son of William Amos Cardwell and Sarah Moore
Wood. He was born in Campbell County, VA on Dec. 3, 1813. In the early
1830's he moved to butler County, Ky and later married Nancy J. Moore in
Ky. who was a native of Va. He cleared a farm in Butler County and
engaged in farming all his life. He died 25 April 1877 along with two of
his children when his home was destroyed by fire. Nancy Moore Cardwell
was born July 3, 1821 and died April 15, 1877.
It goes on to list all his children including William Benjamin Cardwell
born July 20, 1841.
William Cardwell, father of Robert, was born in 1781 in Campbell County,
Va. He married Sarah Moore Wood on April 18, 1806, consent was given by
William and Nancy Moore parents of the bride. After 1830 they moved to
Butler Co.Ky.
Wiilam's father was Robert Cardwell of Campbell Co.VA. He was born in
Thornhill Parish, Yorkshire, England in 1762. He came to America shortly
before or durng the start of the Revoluntion. He fought for his new
country and was granted a pension for that service in the latter part of
his life. According to those records he was at the Siege of Yorktown
when the British surrendered and ended the war.
He died around April 1842 when his will was probated in court.

Madison co., GA
2. Wyatt Cardwell b. ca 1784 - maybe the one in the 1820 census of
Madison Co. AL a resident of Huntsville

3. Sarah - 1788 married Samuel Martin
4. James Dixon - 1790 - stayed in Campbell Co.VA

6. Anthony R. - b. 3 May 1796 - to Grainger Co.Tn - then to Caldwell
Co.TX
7. Thomas Dixon - b. 23 Oct. 1806 - stayed in Campbell Co.VA
8. elizabeth- 1808 married Washington Moore
