John Cardwell to Thomas and Mary Joyce Cardwell but were unable to do it.
We did find a deed whereas Thomas Cardwell sold some property in Stokes
county to John but there was no gift to John as he had done to Perrin and
the two daughters.

In searching the court records of Claiborne County, TN, around 1800-1820
time period, I ran across an item on a Thomas CARDWELL who was wanted on (as
I recall) a criminal charge. The court determined that it was unlikely that
he could be apprehended, as he had returned to North Carolina, "probably
Stokes or Surry County."
My ggg-grandfather, John CARDWELL, lived in Claiborne, and had several
sons. No daughter named Mary, however. We do not know John's wife's name.
