This John Cardwell is the oldest son of Francis. John Cardwell (the
Rev. War vet) of Claiborne County, Tn died around 1824. Francis was his
son and John was his grandson.
John Cardwell (son of Francis) was born in Claiborne County, Tn around
1815/16. This was prior to his father moving to Warren County around
1823. Around this period there were several Claiborne families that
settled to Warren County, Tn among them the Lebows, Cardwells, Jennings,
Sanders. John grew up in Warren County and married Sarah Kell, the
daughter of Thomas Kell and Lydia Lackey. They produced the following
children;
1. Margaret b. 1842 - married C.S. Lowery 12 Feb 1869 in Warren Co.TN
2. James b. 1844 - married MArtha Parks 11 Aug 1870 in Warren Co.,Tn
3. Thomas b. 1847/9
4. Issabella b. 1853 - married J.D. Lusk 3 Mar 1892 in Warren County,Tn
5. Nancy b. 1854
6. Mary F. - b. 1858 - married George Waggoner 10 Dec 1879 in Warren
Co.,Tn
7. Melissa - b.1859 - married Silas McGregor 10 Dec 1879 in Warren
Co.,Tn
8. Jefferson Davis - b. 1862
9. George - b. 1865 - married Remoline Parks 4 Dec 1890 in Warren Co.,Tn
