Rand and Sharon;
I show my 3great grandfather as:
George Cardwell b. 1787 Rockingham N.C. d. aft 1870 Cookville, Tn. m.
Avis Bishop 1808 Adair, Ky.
Children;
1. George Washington b. 15 Nov 1814 White Co. Tn.( There is quite a
gap here between marriage date and first child so I'm thinking there are
more cousins unaccounted for here.)
2. Margaret b. aft 1816 White Co Tn.
3. Elizabeth b.abt 1821
4. Sarah (Sallie) b.abt 1822 White Co. Tn.
5. Mary b. aft 1816 Tn. d. aft 1880 Cookville, Putnam, Tn.
6. Nancy b. 9 Feb 1825 Tn.
7. Rhoda b. between 1830-1832 Tn.
I believe there is a strong possibility this is a brother of George W.
Note there is quite a gap between the date of Nancy's birth and that of
Rhoda and James is the right age to fit in there. On Nov 8, Sharon wrote
that James' father was born in NC And his mother born in Ky. That would
seem to fit the family of George and Avis Cardwell. I see too that James
Cardwell and his family followed pretty much the same route during a
similar time frame as the route followed by my great great grandfather
George Washington Cardwell. (Tn.>Illinois>Iowa>Oregon) I'm trying to
get someone I know in Jacksonville, Or. to check the records there for
us. I'll post any information I get.
Regards,
Gary
