Thornhill Parish, Yorkshire, England said to have following records:
I Richard Cardwell of Netherton, Thornhill Parish, Yorkshire,
England, married Mary Wilson
1639 Nov.12. She died in 1646 Mar.11, leaving two children, Elizabeth
and Mathew. He married again 8 June 1647 to Dorothy Burdet. She died 4
April 1662 leaving 5 children, James , William, Isaac, Jacob and
Prudent. He married a third time but she died 9 Jan. 1670 leaving no
issue.
Richard Cardwell died and was buried 16 Mar. 1672. Yorkshire Parish
Register Society Thornhill Parish.

II Isaac Cardwell of Netherton, son of Richard and Dorothy (Burdell)
Cardwell, baptized 20 February 1652, married Margaret Hall of Thornhill
Parish 3 Dec. 1672. He died and was buried there in Thornhill Parish 19
May 1733. His widow died and was buried there 27 Nov. 1733, leaving two
sons and five daughters.

III John Cardwell, born in Netherton,, baptized 16 May 1685 son of
Isaac and Margaret (Hall) Cardwell of Netherton, Thornhill Parish,
Yorkshire, England. Lived and died in the same town and was buried
there 1 April 1757, His son John becoming heir to the estate, being the
only surviving son.

IV John Cardwell born in Netherton, baptized 2 July 1709 son of John
Cardwell of Netherton. He was his father's only surviving son. Married
to Martha Wainwright 28 Nov. 1736. By this marriage there were five
children, two sons and three daughters, all baptized in Thornhill
Parish, where he was buried 21 Sep. 1776.

V William Cardwell born in Netherton, Thornhill Paish, Yorkshire,
England bapt. 5 June 1737, son of John and Martha (Wainwright)
Cardwellof the same Parish, married Mary (?) of Hostingly, Yorkshire,
England. She survived him and was buried 9 March 1806 in the parish of
Thornhill. He died in Briestwisle, Yorkshire and was buried in Thornhill
Parish 22 June 1773 leaving three sons , William, Robert and Jonathon.
Issue of William Cardwell V
William b. 1760, married twice, firstly Ann Pickels 11 May
1783, by whom he had three children. Carlotte b. 1785 May 15, twins
James and Joseph b. 1787 Nov.11. He was married 2ndly 23 Aug 1809 to
Amelia Inman, no issue. He was a farmer at Hostingly Lane, Thornhill
Parish.
Robert, (Robin) b. 1762 Married twice VI
VI. Robert Cardwell, born in Thornhill Parish 1762 son of William and
Mary Cardwell. He went to the North of Ireland and then to Virginia
where he arrived shortly after the revolutionary war.
He married first to Miss Meam. To this union were born two sons, Simon
and Wyatt. The second marriage was to Alice Rucker. To this union were
born 8 children, six sons and two daughters:

Robert and Alice Cardwell, was married three times.
First to Nancy Elliot, to this union was born one son, *James
Elliot Dixon Cardwell.
The second marriage was to a Miss Cheatham, to this union was
born Three children, **William, Sarah and Elmina. ( Elmina m. James
Martin 5 ch. Pheobe Ann who m.Sam Landrum, Mary who m. Moses Brightwell,
Angeline who m. TaswellWeb, and John who m. Emma Arrington.
The third time he married a Miss Walker, to this union was born
three children, ***Charles Wesley, Elizabeth and Fletcher.
Up to this point I have tried to copy this in the order and language
used as it was sent to me; however, from this point on I will change the
way it is presented to make it easier to see who belongs to which
family. I will keep the spelling the same as that used in the copies I
received.

Much of the information here was hard to decipher so I'm still trying to
sort more out.--
One item states that a 13- wagon train consisting of Magee, Jolly,
Wright, Shinn and Cardwell families left Panola County, Miss. In Nov.
1869 headed for Lockhart, Williamson County, Texas.
None of this group have anything to do with my Cardwell line but I
thought maybe there might be a piece of someone else's puzzle.
