Looking for parents of James Overstreet b. Feb 15, 1807 in SC. He
married Frances (Fannie) Blakely, Apr 12, 1829 in Wayne Co., MS. They
moved to Newton Co., MS and then to Freestone Co., TX about 1858.
A review of land sales by the government to individuals in Mississippi
revealed that James OVERSTREET, Madison OVERSTREET, Braswell OVERSTREET,
Jefferson OVERSTREET, Bechilton OVERSTREET, William OVERSTREET, John
BLAKELY, James BLAKELY, and Robert BLAKELY, all purchased land in Newton
Co. MS on 1/5/1841, 12/10/1840, or 9/14/1835 (William).
I suspect the above Blakelys may be the descendants of John BLAKELY, Jr.
who d. in Franklin Co. TN in 1818. He was from either Laurens or York
Co. in SC, having been born there in 1789. He was m. to Kizziah HALCOMB,
b. 12 Jan 1793 in Laurens Co. SC. Following the death of her husband,
she was m. to Wiseman MOORE.
I have no information concerning OVERSTREET other than their land
purchases in Newton Co. MS and related info.
