I'm still trying to find Thomas Sr, parents. somewhere I got the
impression,
that his father was George, but I need proof.
Nothing new.
Jane,
I've not grouped Thomas of Granville as the son of George for the following
reasons.
1.There is a Thomas Cardwell that lived in Claiborne Co.Tn that 'could' also
be the son of George.
2. That particular Thomas lives near John and Perrin Cardwell (brothers) and
known children of George.
I've not listed Thomas of Claiborne as the son of George due to lack of
'hard' proof, but I think that you can see that there is some strong
evidence that he might be. Consider that John (poss. brother) bought land
for him in 1810.
I have found others research that list Thomas of Granville as the son of
George, but I wouldn't bet on it. IMO there might be a chnace of
discovering his lineage from examination of the famiilies that lived near
himin Granville and searching the root Virginia families for associations
before they resettled into Granville. There is the possibliity that he is
an immirgrant and doesn't stem from the Virginia lines.
Hope that helps.

Rand
