Hello List, Sorry this will be long, giving names & dates, hopefully someone
will connect!
CARDWELL 'brick wall':My ggrandfather, Nathaniel Timothy CARDWELL, b:1873,
Bluff Springs Escambia Co. FL (marr: Mary Jane NORRIS).
I believe it starts with:
Peter CARDWELL (1840 Pike Co. AL census). Here also are Nathan, & Edmund
(Peters' sons). Living very close by are the DUCKS, MEDLOCKS, McNEALS'&
DURDENS', the CARDWELLS' married into these other lines.
1850 Pike Co AL:
1)Peter 66, farmer, born VA (c:1784), wife Elizabeth 56, born NC, daughter
Susan 16 (marr: J.W. McNEAL), born AL. The DURDENS' are living with them
(their daughter Margaret married Elisha DURDEN).
2)Edmund CARDWELL 33, born NC wife Nancy SILIVAN, born SC--children:
Elizabeth, John, Benjamin (married a MATHENY) & dau. not named.
3)Nathaniel CARDWELL 42, born GA (believe this should be NC-?), wife
Elizabeth--children: William, Jane, Wade H (Wade Hampton--married Fannie
DUCK), Susan, Tilman (marr: Emily JOHNSON), & Nathaniel.
I believe one of the above (children) was father to Nathaniel Timothy.
Possibly, Wade Hampton, (my grandfather was named William Hampton).
Buried in Bluff Springs at Crary Memorial Cemetery are: Wade H.CARDWELL
(1840-1917), Susan (wife of WJ McNEAL), WJ McNEAL, & Elizabeth (b: 1795. d:
1872, Peters wife-?).
Any help will be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Linda
