John C. Cardwell
Cardwell- At the family residence in Sam's valley, may 4th, 1882, john
C. Cardwell; aged 59 years, 8 months, and 9 days.
John c. Cardwell was born at Treadls, Lancashire Co., England, August
25th, 1822. He came to Oregon in the year of 1860 and settled on a farm
in Sam's Valley, where he remained until, his death. He was a just and
upright man, strictly honest in all his dealings with his fellowmen, a
kind and affectionate husband and father. In him we have lost one of our
best neighbors, in the true sense of the word, and Jackson County one of
its best citizens. He leaves a widow and eight children - five boys and
three girls.
The names of the children were:
John, Frank, Dave, Ed, Martha, Eva, Laurence, and Jane.
