To Rand, Charles, J. D., and Gary,
Here is an e-mail that what sent to me from my cousin Geneva Rainey back in
July. She is related to me through my Hickey line, and saw my Cardwell
surname on my stuff. I've been unable to tie in her Sarah with my people,
however, they could be two of Thomas' girls. DeKalb is right next to Putnam
and White County. George also had daughters Sarah and Mary. Mary was mine
who married Henderson Tilley. Sarah married Leonard Saylors. Yet another
piece of the puzzle. (You do realize this is about a 5,000 piece puzzle)
(chuckle)
Love, Janel
Janel, my Sarah Cardwell according to all the census reports I have
found was
born in February, 1817 but she had a sister named Mary. In the 1900 Census
of DeKalb Co., TN. a sister-in-law to William Gambrell (husband of Sarah)
was living
with them.
Her name was listed as Mary Vickers, age 75, born May 1825., a
widow.
Sarah and William married January 3, 1850 and lived with his mother Millie
on Millie's farm.
Millie was from South Carolina. I do not know much about Sarah Cardwell but
my maiden name was Gambrell. If you think it is the same Sarah, then I would
be delighted to receive any info you have on her. Let me know. Regards,
Geneva
