For years some of our relative (now desceased) said that our Daniel
CARDWELL
was married to Elizabeth Worsham.
Elizabeth Worsham married Perrin Cardwell in Amelia County, VA around
1785 (don't have my notes in front of me so I'm using memory --- oh
noooooo). They produced several children including a Daniel Cardwell
that lived in Grainger Co.TN from around 1815-1830.
To all the Perrin Cardwell hunters: This Perrin was the one that fought
in the Rev War and received pension (great records). He had several sons
that moved around that I've managed to track.
1. Richard- appears to be the oldest - died in Knox Co.,TN around 1813
2. Daniel - already mentioned
3. Thomas George- lived in Knox Co.TN and inherited the bulk of Perrin's
estate.
4. John - lived in Knox Co. (don't have muuch on him)
5. William Lee Cardwell- moved to Ill. then to Oregon dieed around 1860
Like I said I'm not near my notes...
maybe this helps someone. If you need more info e-mail me for more
specifics.
.> Now in the research she did this week-end it said that Obedience was first
married to Daniel's brother Thomas. When Thomas died she married
Daniel.
I've found this too, but still have a hard time accepting it since
records were so few and far between. Tons of Cardwell men had the saem
first name and then they named their sons after brothers and
fathers, etcc,. Just not sure about Obedience being married to Thomas
first then to Daniel.
Daniel was 50 years old at the time of their marriage. It also said
it was
a second marriage for him. Now does it make sense that perhaps he WAS
married to Elizabeth Worsham as his first wife .
I have seen no data that supports that. Plus see the above tie-in
between Elizabeth Worsham and the Cardwell family that is proven.
So if that is the case, who
was the father of our Nathan Perrin? Since we don't have a birth
date for
him, it is very hard. Also we don't have any siblings either.
Does anyone have any suggestion? We would really appreciate any suggestion
as to where to go from here?
Have you looked into the research done by the Texas line of Nathan. I
can't remember the name of the man, but i did a small book on this line.
I can check it later for his theory.
Hope this helps.
