As I have been told by many researchers and now I do the same PLEASE do
not take Alan Pendergraph's work as perfect!
I know there are other's on this list that feel the same and can give
great examples of mistakes in his work.
It is SO VERY IMPORTANT to document your research and especially ask
your fellow researcher to give you their ref.'s when they give you info.
Kay,
I do not know Mr. Pendergraph & I'm not familiar with his work. I only know
our family researcher tried to verify his work but was unable to. Our
researcher documented everything she told us.
I personally don't feel the article in the Smith Co. History Book is very
reliable either. It was put together by family members who submitted their
thoughts & ideas (as did many counties did for the 1976 Bicentennial).
We were very pleased with our researcher & my cousin is using her again to
further research our family (not only Cardwell's but other family lines).
Now, to names.....John G. lists the following in his will:
Wife: Sally H.
Others: Thomas D. (my son that is now dead),
James A.,
John R. (deceased leaving several minor children),
My daughter Emily Watson Overstreet (deceased) former wife of Thomas
Overstreet, Fanny H. (wife of Vernile L. Cardwell) who are both deceased,
Lette D. Kemp wife of Jenks Kemp,
Thomas L (who is now dead but leaves children in the Western part of KY),
Others are mentioned but it's very hard to read. I need to take it to a copy
machine & enlarge it about 150% <g>
Sincerely,
Carmelita
