Still seeking info on Stacy M. CARDINAL, b. 5 April 1896. In many Census years I have
found list her birthplace as Indiana, but her funeral program lists Mt. Carmel, IL.
I believe her parents are William A. CARDINAL (b. 1867, Indiana) and Nannie BIDDLE (b.
1869, Indiana), married 15 February 1887 in Knox County, IN. In the 1900 census, the
family is still in Knox County. There are four children listed: Georgie, Goldie, Stacy M.,
and Ethel. By the 1910 census, the children are scattered in different homes. Stacy is
listed as an orphan living with the Combs family in Mt. Carmel, Wabash Co., IL. This
matches family lore that Stacy was orphaned and was raised by a family other than her own.
Nobody in my family knows exactly why the children were "orphaned."
Stacy went on to marry Elmer T. WHITE around 1913-1914. Their first two children were born
in Illinois, and they moved to Minnesota, then finally to Iowa to settle. They had seven
children: 6 girls and one boy, Elmer Lyle, who was my grandfather.
Desperately seeking info on this CARDINAL line. Thanks!
