Greetings..
I just wanted to share what I discovered today regarding my family research.
This week I am home on family sick leave due to an accident that my mother
recently had and is on bedrest. Well, what do I do while she is recuperating??
(As I scratch my brain...then it hit me..one day a few weeks ago my mother
informed me that she cant remember where she put some very important papers that
are necessary for me to have if something happends to her and asked me to
check out her 4 draw file cabinet for them.. but..two days after that she found
the papers!!! Thank God! However, she still asked me to clean out and check
out the file cabint to see if there is anything else that I think I should
have..I decided to put it on my "TO DO LIST" for the next time I have a day off
.Bingo that was the project for the day... (in between of caring for her..)
It took me about 6 hours to go through the file cabinet and I shredded alot
of useless
papers but found a huge discovery... I found many papers on my grandfather
and grandmother! .(marriage ceritificaties / discharge papers and birth
certificates and many other types of documents) and even information on my
grandparents' mother and father...Even though most of it were written in Italian..its
more information I have now than before... I even found documents of my
grandfathers other two marriages (after the death of my grandmother...) Some of them
are so old that I have to be very careful in handling it... but I think I will
have them laminated since most of them are from the early 1900s..especially
the ones written in Italian...
What a find!! SO if you have any file cabinets or draws to clean out you
never know what you might find!!! and dont forget to check your basement and/or
attic...
