Dear Mr Lazarus:
First I would strongly recomment to all those having family ties with fur traders,
voyagers, explorers in the Upper Great Lakes to visit the following site, which I found
fantastic. I can't figure out what is the organization in charge, it seems to me that
it could be a Michigan or Wisconsin or Kansas historical Society, but thanks to their
great work, it is quite an achievement to be proud of.
The address is:

Check under the name "Barrois" (not Barrios..)
Now, here is what I have regarding (Marie) Madeleine Cardinal, daughter of Jacques
Cardinal (b. 1654 d+b: 17&18 May 1724, Detroit, Michigan) and Claude Louise-Arrivé.
Madeleine was born and christened on Feb. 15,1698 at Notre-Dame Church in Montreal. She
married Jean-Baptiste Barrois-Lotman on March 3,1717. (Jean-Baptiste himself was the son
of Herbrand Barrois-Lotman, born in Albany NY - in the registries, it is said "Esope
Hill" in New England: I can't figure out where this place is located - on Apr. 4,
1660, and died in Montreal on Nov. 8,1699) and his mother was Anne LeBer)
Madeleine gave birth to children, at least, in the following years: 1717, 1719+b, 1720,
1726+b, 1727, 1731+b.
(+b meaning that the child died and was buried a short while after.)
One of her sons, Jacques, married Suzanne Baron, in Laprairie, (close to Montreal) on
Oct.12,1747.
A daughter, Therese, married to François Lefebvre du Chouquet.
A daughter Catherine m. Joseph Duguay Duplassy.
A son, Bonaventure (b. 1724) was captured by the English in 1760.
A daughter, Madeleine, m. Louis Marin
A daughter, Céleste, m. Michel Lamis, 1757
A son, Joseph, was b. in 1722
A son, Louis, was b. 1732
There was also another son, Francois, b. ?
I have a date for the burial of a Madeleine Cardinal, in Ste-Genevieve de Pierrefonds, on
Montreal Island, in 1765. But this last information would need to be verified, since there
are many Madeleine Cardinal.
' hope to have been helpful, and that those infos coincide with yours.
