From your post, I would say you and I are indeed related! Your father's sister,
Clara, is my great-grandmother.
Here is some information from the family record in her Bible (which I now have)...
George Albert Carder (born March 24, 1861) married Mary Alise Skinner on June 4, 1883 in
Chester, IN. (Her middle name is spelled "Alise" in the record.) Mary Alise
Skinner was born February 7, 1866 and died on March 6, 1900.
According to the record, they lived in Chester, IN and had 4 children:
George William Carder (born January 26, 1884)
Charles Clarance Carder (born September 23, 1886)
Clara Belle Carder (born August 30, 1888)
Freddie Carder (born/died on October 6 or 26, 1890)
There is no mention of any "Earl". However, I have an uncle Richard Earl
Carder, one of Clara's grandsons.
It is uncertain what happened to your grandfather, George Albert Carder. We assume he
died sometime after 1890.
Mary Alise married William Bennett and they had two children, Warren and Olive. Mary
Alise died from complications from giving birth to Olive in March 1900. Shortly
thereafter, William Bennett sent the two younger Carder children (your father and my
great-grandmother) to an orphanage.
After much research, we believe the orphanage was in Findlay, OH. I've not had any
luck on finding records to support that belief.
I have much more info, but little time right now.
Did your father ever mention any of this to you? If so, I would love to hear what you
know. You may send message directly to my Email address - richardecraig(a)yahoo.com.
I very much look forward to hearing from you!
