I have now completely finished my draft chapter on this branch of the
family. It mentions exactly 100 descendants of the family of Edward Carden
1835 who emigrated with his three sons from Surrey in England and mostly
live around the Roseville area of Sydney. There are mini-biographies of
many of them and about 15 photographs. Edward's eldest son was called
Debaskerville Carden - no one has yet suggested where this name came from.
I am writing this week to the 10 members of this branch whose addresses I
know, asking them who else would like a copy, so I know how many to print.
Of course anyone else can have a copy too, for the cost of photocopying and
printing. About 4 or US$.6 or A$.10.
So you see I have not been entirely idle here in Ireland. Incidentally I
have lots of scraps of Carden news from Tipperary. I heard last evening
that a Carden applied to head up the Irish Constabulary in 1820, and that
there were 20 Cardens in the constabulary (I only knew of six).
