Ronnie - (J & V Bates)
Delighted you have finished your family books, and I would love to see the
volume "Our Carden Origins and Australia." I would gladly pay the cost of a
copy if reasonable. There is a printer in England who has quoted me only
about 20 pounds sterling each for a 200-page book bound paperback from my
originals, and there must be one in Australia. Perhaps other listers would
like a copy too. Or perhaps you could have the pages which would specially
interest us copied for us.
I have found Jockey Hall, where Nicholas Carden (born about 1737) lived, on
an early Ordnance Survey map. Quite a large estate about two miles south of
Templemore. I will try to visit the place when I return to Templemore soon.
He was of course not only your ancestor but that of the branch known as
"Barnane Cardens in Australia."
