Hi, Arthur, and thanks.
I think we should reply on this semi-public forum. I see a lot of info that is of at
least passing interest and one never knows when a name or event or similar may be
mentioned that is associated with one's own history, and suddenly a new link has been
found.
It is interesting for me to see bits about the US Civil War. I am trying to locate
relatives [not Cardens] who went to Florida from Scotland and fought for the
Confederates.
I also do not have a problem with publishing any data that is 'public domain' - ie
name, birth, death, marriage information. I have unearthed a number of 'scandals'
in various parts of my family and have persuaded most people to regard them with some
humour - even awe in one or two cases! These suddenly 'pop out' when all the data
is seen together. Life certainly has not changed much over the centuries! It does not
pay to be too sensitive when researching ones family!
Re the Bath info - yes, I would very much appreciate the email address of the local
historical society. That is an excellent suggestion. I had asked about some info I saw
on the GENUKI web site and drew a blank. However I have been very busy at work recently
and had not considered what to do next.

Dave - following James Jones' suggestion, I am replying to you
here, rather than direct. [Lets have views on whether this is the
proper way.]
I guess the best ways to follow up your exciting leads regarding the
town of Bath are (a) to look in local contemporary directories which
may well list your family and their homes and (b) make contact with
the local family history society. If you like I will try to find the name
and email ID for the latter. Or I could recommend a professional
genealogist. But perhaps you've already thought of these steps.
Cheers, Arthur.
