Subject: [CARDEN-L] DNA testing UK Cardens
Hi
Six Carden males in UK have now given samples and this week we will be
sending them off for DNA (Y chromosone) analysis. I will of course post
the
results. Sadly I have not yet persuaded any Carden from Mayo/Sligo
to
participate, but still have hopes of two of them. Otherwise we shall not
answer my most important question: "Are the Mayo/Sligo Cardens, who were
there long before my Cardens arrived in Tipperary from Cheshire in 1665,
related to the rest of us?"
When we have the results, I hope lots of the USA Cardens will have their
DNA
analysed, and I can then tell them from which UK branch they come.
What
fun!
testing.
Arthur Carden (now in Horsham, England)
PS. "Off topic," though so much has already been said, I am impelled to
add
my own words of sympathy to all those directly affected by the
ghastly
events
of last Tuesday. No Cardens have been directly affected, so far as I
know,
but we are all involved to some degree, and everyone known to me is
full
of
support for whatever action the USA decides to take. I am confident
that
action will be strong but cool-headed.
