Merry Christmas everyone... !
Hi Mike,
Recently I looked at your site URL since as it was posted on Trish's site.
Like you, I love looking at the family pictures; and she has posted several
of my CARDEN line on her site w/ many others lately. It seems that our
CARDEN's body 'type' is mixed -- some being short and muscular and others
over 6' in height with strong facial features, esp. the nose, mouth &
forehead.
When looking at the picture of Robert Carden w/ his family in your 'family
photos' online...I was amazed how much he looks like one of my CARDEN first
cousins...and your Robert's daughter, the one w/ long blonde hair, looks
like another of my CARDEN first cousins. Is this Robert your cousin...?
I'm going to scan a picture of my 'look-alike' cousin and put send it to
Trish after the holidays. Had to put my scanner in the 'hospital' for an
overhaul. Think I might've caused it to 'blow a fuse' w/ overuse
lately...(s).
I sent you an email recently off the one listed on your site, but you may
not have gotten it.
Cheers, Martha Smith

Subject: [CARDEN-L] Roll Call
Hello All,
I just wanted to wish everyone a Merry Christmas. My roll call is still
the
same as last time. However, I would like to thank everyone on the
list
who
has helped me obtain information and come up with new connections.
Especially Pauline Carden Roberts in Villa Rica, Georgia and Joyce Bates
in
Bremen, Georgia. Joyce helped with information early when I started
and
got
me back another generation. I attended her family reunion in 1999
and had
a
blast, that is where I met Pauline. Pauline has been very busy
researching
the Carden line in Georgia and has kept me updated. She has sent
several
pictures as well copies of legal documents and is trying to get
information
in the local libraries. I also had a comment about using Carden as a
first
or middle name. There was a Carden who married a Summers in Georgia,
they
named one of there children Carden Summers. I do not know if Carden was a
first or middle name and I do not know if Carden is a male or female. My
mother has corresponded with a lady who named her daughter Carden Rose ?.
I
do not know her last name. She stated Carden Rose was named after a
grandmother (some time back). She said her father was in to genealogy and
that it was his idea to preserve her name and heritage. We have not
exchanged information but I assumed her line is America Ann Carden. Also,
I
have family pictures posted on my website at
http://familytreemaker.genealogy.com/users/c/o/l/Mike-Collins/ , Trish you
are welcome to copy photos to your web site. The thing I have noticed
with
most of our Cardens is the nose. I am 6'4" and both
brothers are over 6'.
My mother is 5'8" and my sister 5'8". I was always told our height
came
from the Atkins. My grandfather is 5'6"-5'8" and I have one uncle the
same
size. Mom said she thought are Cardens were short and plump. The
other 2
uncles are 6' and over. Well enough already..... Our line is
John Carden b circa 1770 m Catherine Jane Davis 11/25/1791 in Buckingham
Co., VA. They had 6 children.
Andrew Jackson Carden b abt. 1814 in Jasper Co., Georgia, m Adeline
Crawford
3/4/1838 in Pike Co., Georgia. They had 8 children.
Henry Carden b circa 1852 in Pike Co., Georgia, m Marion Blisit. They had
7
children.
David Jackson Carden b 4/10/1874 in Monroe Co., Georgia m Amanda Ada
Hinman
8/26/1900 and Opal Azilia Smith 1/19/1920. He had 6 children with
Amanda
and 2 with Opal (after Amanda passed away.)
Ollie David Carden b 11/07/1906 in Rome Co., Georgia, m Maggie Rene Atkins
4/15/1936. They had 6 children (2 died in infancy).
Alpha Joyce Carden b 10/30/1947 in Dawson Co., Texas, m James D. Collins
11/30/1964. They had 5 children (1 died at birth).
Michael Collins b 11/11/1972 in Hopkins Co., Texas, never married and no
children.
I guess I'll close for now. Merry Christmas to all.
Mike
