Hi Arthur, Are you looking ONLY for Y-chromosome DNA from direct
descendants of
CARDEN lines, or are you going to deal w. mt-DNA as well?
Yes, Martha, sorry to be so sexist, but it's the CARDEN surname which
interests most of us, not the matriarchal line!
We are awaiting the results for six members of English branches sent in to
Oxford Ancestors two months ago, and as soon as I can report success I will
post a suggestion to the list that lots of you in USA should send in samples
to check to which English or Irish branch you are related (and to compare
results for various USA branches). For six or more tests in one batch Oxford
Ancestors charge US dollars 170 each. It makes sense for several members of
a family to share the cost of sending in one sample. After all, the results
for males known to be related should be identical. For a layman's
explanation of the whole subject and a discussion as to whether to use Oxford
Ancestors or your stateside FTDNA, see Chris Pomery's excellent up-to-date
site

I'm posting this to the list as there may be others waiting for an update
from me. I think Beth's brother plans to take part, for instance.
