The document you found is the main reason we believe
Joseph Carden (b1755) is Joseph W's father. There
have been a few fragments that might suggest that
James Carden was Joseph W's dad, but we're still
researching.

Found in biography of JOSEPH CARDEN - born abt 1782/83 in Botetourt County,
Virginia; died aft 29 Sep 1824 in Hawkins County, Tennessee. He married on
13 Sep 1811 in Botetourt County, Virginia Judith B. (KENNER) Carden [1775],
born abt 1790 in Virginia, daughter of Redeham KENNER [2608] and Judith
(KENNER) Kenner [5036].
In the War of 1812 --- " He was a Pvt. under Col. Edwin Booth & Capt. JOHN
SLATTON, E. Tenn. Militia, and was appointed a surgeon's mate." Botetourt
Co,VA Court Records indicates this CARDEN family was in Hawkins Co,TN by 28
May 1817. I did not find him on the 1820 Federal Census for TN.
