I don't think ALL Alabama CARDENs are descendants of your Robert James
CARDEN; specifically, I don't think William and Randolph CARDEN of 1850
Russell Co AL were descendants.
It has been said in the past (Russell Co Heritage Book) that William,
Randolph, and a Benjamin CARDEN were brothers who came to Russell Co AL
from Jasper Co GA. Best evidence suggests that William and Randolph
were indeed brothers, but that Benjamin was not really associated with
them at all. i
William and Randolph were great-grandsons of the William CARDEN who died
in Wake Co NC before 1777. Now was he related to Robert James ...
perhaps a brother? Maybe.

# 1- It's my belief from research, interviewing older Carden
relatives, reading family lore, etc. that came out of my
family, and what many of you have written, that ALL Carden's
who came to AL were from one of the 7 sons of Robert James
(James Robert?) Carden (b.abt.1705, Rappahannock Co,VA, &
d. abt.1785, Goochland Co, VA). The name of wife # 1 is not
known at this time. Later this same Robert James Carden
mar. 2nd to Phyllis Willbanks & they had several other
children, mostly all girls, and a boy (Archer).
