The only record of a Cornelius that I've found is in Warren Co where he
witnesses a deed.
[Warren County Deed Book A]
Page 8: Peter Goodwin, Warren Co., Ga., 250 pounds paid by Wyche
Goodwin of same Co., one negro man Mark, negro woman Phillis,
negro girl Chancy, negro child boy Anthony, son Sorrel Mare, one horse,
June 12, 1795. Peter Goodwin (Seal), Wit: Cornelius Cardion (M),
James Crisup (X). Ack. March 8, 1796, Rec. Aug. 18, 1796.
What really makes this interesting is that 28 years later, in 1824, a
Wyche GOODWIN marries a Jane CARDEN in Jasper Co. I've found no further
record of these people. There were (at least) two separate CARDEN
families in Jasper Co. My William CARDEN who died 1824/1825 leaving a
wife Dicey and children James (married Elizabeth TILLER), Mary, Ally,
Nancy, Elizabeth and William. The other CARDEN family was that of John
CARDEN who moved down from Goochland Co VA. John also had a son named
James. I don't know who the Jane CARDEN that married Wyche GOODWIN was.
Was there a third family; maybe related to my William? The 1820 lottery
shows three fortunate drawers from Jasper Co named James CARDEN. James
CARDEN of Sentill's district was the son of John. There were two James
CARDENs in McClendon's district. One was the son of William. Who was
the other? One possibility is simply that there are two entries for the
same person. Another possibility, since he lived in the same district as
William, is that he is a nephew or some other close relative of William.

Subject: Cornelius Cardin\en
In the "Revolutionary War Bounty and Land Grants" book
under GA
there's a Cornelius Cardin who served in the Revolution and is
listed as having been given a land grant in GA in 1784.
The only Cornelius Cardin\en I can find info. for during the
Revolution is one who served from CT. I was wondering if anyone
on the list knows anything about either (or the saame?) man. If so,
did he ever live in GA ? I do know that many soldiers never moved
to the location of their land, so never used it, but sold it to
pay debts, gave it to a son or other family member, or just never
claimed it at all, etc.
Does anyone have a record of this man, or a Cardin/en whose name
resembles his? I'm 'chasing' possibilities of my Cardens being
in GA bf/ 1800 and would like to know more about him.
Thanks, Martha
