I am enquiring on behalf of a fellow Carden-searcher if anyone has come across an
EDWARD CARDEN, Soldier. All we know of him is that he had at least one son WILLIAM who
was born in 1847 in Halifax, Yorkshire. We cannot find a birth certificate for William
so we only know his father was Edward from William's marriage certificate when he
married Mary Brown in Liverpool in 1872. William went on to run a successful Shippping
Agency in Liverpool until his death in 1890. We do not know if his father, Edward, was
ever in Liverpool.
Can anyone help us out with EDWARD. Family rumour is that he may have come from
Tipperary (either born or stationed there) but there is no evidence of this. Arthur
Carden of Cornwall has been most helpful but has not claimed him as one of his. We have
also tried the IGI Register.
I have much information on Carden families in Liverpool, and would be happy to help anyone
looking in this area. Our Carden family came from Ballina in Co. Mayo around 1830. I
am in touch with Bud Burge, who has similar interests.
