I have a James William Carden, called "Will" born 17 Sep 1883 in Meriweather
County, Georgia, died 11 Feb 1959 in Meriwether County, buried Loan Oak
Cemetery, Meriweather County, and married to Johnetta Harris. Is this the
same as your James William Carden?

My grandfather was James William Carden, Hogansville, GA and I believe we
descended from North Carolina Cardens. One of my grandfathers sisters is
reported to have run away to California, never to be heard from again. I
have stalled in my research but will try to pick it up again when my son
leaves for Afghanistan soon. Maybe between work and research it will keep
me too busy to worry too much about him.

Arthur, i have always wondered why my 3rd g-grandfather, Reuben Carden and
his wife Rachel left Polk Co. Tn. and moved to Murray Co. Ga. after 1850, i
had perhaps thought it might have had something to do with Rachel's family
as we know nothing of her family but since there has been so much mentioned
of the Carden's already in Ga., i wonder if maybe they ( my family) might
have kept in touch or had known of other family members already living
there.
something to think about and strangely , my own family , some of my moms
brothers and sisters and mom and dad moved to California before i was
born...some stayed, we moved back forth until 1959 when we moved back to
Alabama....i was shocked to say the least when i started tracing moms family
and found out there were Carden's already in California.

I have just sent my entire file regarding Thomas Jefferson Carden, born
1804, and his descendants to Darshana Deborah Matthews in Copenhagen,
Denmark
(darshana(a)human-design.org)
TJC was raised in Georgia and Carroll Co. Arkansas. After the Civil War he
and his son William trekked to Texas and then to California. The file
contains correspondence with the late Sally Carden of Sacramento,
California, who died in 1994 and her relative Jenni Tardy, with whom I have
now lost touch.
It contains about 50-60 pages including a great many copies of photographs
and other material, including the fascinating story of the trek, commencing
with a letter to Sally Carden dated 1990 about a telephone conversation I
had with her while I myself was in California.
I am sending all this stuff to Darshana because she is a member of this
family, and because I am trying to dispose of my papers as opportunity
arises. Darshana's grandmother was Sally's brother Morris Carden. I sent
copies of most of these papers to Robert Terry Carden of Huntsville Alabama
(cardenrt(a)bellsouth.net) at his request in November 1998, but do not appear
to have received any acknowledgement or comment from him.
If anyone is interested in this family please contact Darshana, who is soon
going to California to track down her cousin Jenni Tardy.
