According to my Grandfather James W. Carden and Harris relatives. We
have an ancestor who was Cherokee but that is all I know. I have gone
back as far as the Civil War. James Elisha Carden Sr, who was married to
Elizabeth Coleman.

relatives, some of my family gaps are being filled.

SARAH A. ( married William Carr ) is buried in Ky. d. 8 Apr. 1877
TABITHA ( married Hardy Mattox) ended up in Indian Terr. , Cherokee
Nation ( Ok.) , died between the 1880 - 1900 census, daughter, Mary
Clem, married JESSE D. THOMPSON , a mixed blood.
JOHN , married 4 times, ( my gg-grandfather) ,died 5 June 1908, (1)
Jane Parsons, (2) Malinda Mollie Dempsey, (3) Sarah Francis Cash, (4)
Martha Hammett Hall
is buried at Shady Grove cem. between Phil Campbell and Hackleburg Al.
LEONARD & JAMES K. POLK CARDEN both died during the Civil War.
MARTHA A.D. , lived in Gordon Co. Ga. for while , ended up in Ky,
supposedly buried Salem Cem. but no one has found her marker, if she has
one. died 4 Jan. 1911.
MALINDA MISSOURI , (married George Washington Barclay ) also ended up in
Ky,. buried Salem Cem. died 11 July 1917.
according to the 1880 Cherokee Nation census, Tabitha and Hardy were
living in I.T. ( with permission) ............does anyone know anything
about this ? how did one go about getting permission to live in I.T. at
that time and what were the requirements?
