There is also a Jane Carden living in a household by herself in North
Carolina in 1870 who be about the correct age to be your Jane. But she
probably wouldn't leave Georgia to move to North Caolina.

i'm going to give this a shot and see if any of you can connect with this
info.......
my gg-grandfather, John Carden , b. 1840 Polk Co. Tn. was married 4 times.
his first wife was Jane Parsons..........they were married 3-3-1861., Murray
Co., supposedly according to family lore there might have been at least one
child by the time John enlisted the 4-1-1862 in the 22nd Ga. Inf.
he was captured at Gettysburg and spent the remainder of the war in a prsion
camp in Maryland. it's told that by the time he got home, his wife and child
were no where to be found....................did she give him up for dead
and remarry or did she & the child die? what happened to John's first
family?............could some of the Carden's in Ga. be related to my
gg-grandfather?
John's parents were Reuben Carden and Rachel ( maiden name unk) Carden.
