Several people have asked me for clearer instructions on how to participate.
Here goes.
1. Visit
http://www.oxfordancestors.com and look at what it says about the
Y-line testing process.
2. Email enquiries(a)oxfordancestors.com to ask for a testing kit, giving them
your snailmail address and making clear you are asking for the Y-line kit.
Send no money at this stage. You will receive detailed instructions from
them.
3. Email me at CardenAE1(a)cs.com to ask for a "10% off" voucher (if there are
any left). I will need your snailmail address. I am only sending vouchers
to those who have applied for the testing kit.
4. When the testing kit arrives, follow the instructions. When you send
your sample, tell them this is part of the CARDEN DNA PROJECT and therefore
you are entitled to the $170 rate which normally applies to six participants
as one order. Enclose a check for this sum, or if you have received a
voucher, enclose it and make your check out for only $153. It is possible
they will tell you US dollar checks are not acceptable and give some other
instructions about remitting the money.
5. Email me to tell me the sample has been mailed, for I'd love to know!
I'll tell you who else has told me they've sent a sample.
6. Wait for the results, which can take 8 weeks at present. When they
arrive, email me the numbers and remind me of your ancestry, so that I can
revise my report to include your results. I will assume that if you send me
your results I am free to publish them
If you prefer to use a lab in USA, read all about it on Chris Pomery's site,
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~allpoms/genetics.html But I
recommend you use Oxford Ancestors so that your results will be fully
comparable with those we already have. Chris explains the problem.
Hope that's clear. As Churchill said "two nations divided by a common
language"!
Good luck. Arthur Carden. (I'm off to Spain by car on Tuesday. My replies
to your messages may be a bit slow until we get there about Feb 2nd.)
