FYI --- Eno Cemetery in Hillsborough, Orange Co, NC.
This information was on the Bush River, Newbery, SC (Quaker) list I'm subbed
to.
When I clicked the link just to see if names of interest to CARDEN, or
allied families, were there, low & behold, there were CARDENS galore! Sadly
many were tiny babies, toddlers & young children, but not all. Click the
blue # to the left of each name for more information.
These were Quakers and some Baptists (many were related to each other) who
fled the 'Regulator Grievances' in Hillsborough, NC abt.1753 ending up in
Bush River, Newberry Co, SC somewhat before the Revolution.
Please ck. out MARSHA MOSES' website & contact her [SEE BELOW] if you have
any other questions.
Carol Scarlett, whom some of you know to be descended from James J. Carden &
Sarah DePriest of Orange Co, NC, is mentioned as having done a lot of the
work on this cemetery.
Enjoy,
Martha

Subject: [SC-BUSHRIVERQUAKERS] Eno Cemetery Dedication--April 22, 2012
I was able to attend the Eno Cemetery Dedication on Sunday, April 22. The
event took place just north of Hillsborough, NC in Orange County, NC. It was
a wonderful experience. John Allen, who represented the cemetery committee
for The NC Yearly Meeting, did a wonderful job of asking speakers for the
occasion. He was particularly nice and made sure that I was able to see the
cemetery after the meeting, held inside the Mars Hill Baptist Church bc/ the
outside meeting was rained out. I have posted a few photos of the cemetery
and the marker at :
http://www.marshamoses.blogspot.com/
If anyone has trouble, let me know and I'll send photos to you directly from
my computer if you have reason to want a photo or several. I give permission
for anyone to use any photo for any reason...only condition is that if you
have information to share on anything, you send me a copy of anything that
would enhance my research on these families. If you want to see photos
better on the site, double click and they will be much easier to read.
Carole Troxler spoke about the 'Regulator Grievances' with a particular
emphasis on Herman Husband and Charity Wright. Jeff Bright and Stewart
Dunaway spoke about the American Revolution in Orange County, NC. John
Hunter spoke to us about the damage to the cemetery from Hurricane Fran and
the future of the cemetery; then spoke a bit about Quaker organization.
The event was a very special experience. I only wish that more of you might
have been able to attend.
Marsha Moses
