Hello Listers,
I have been off the list for a while due to holidays and lots of problems with my former
ISP. I hope I haven't missed too much. Also I was being innundated with Spam so
I am relieved to have a new address. Let's hope those pests now have their unwanted
mail bouncing back to them.
I would like to pass on a message to Arthur Carden, if I may.
Arthur (hello), I had a phone call from Hazel Poole of Preston yesterday. You will
remember that her ancestor is EDWARD CARDEN a soldier. She has no information on him
other than seeing his name on his son William's marriage certificate in 1872 when he
married Mary Brown in Liverpool.
According to the 1881 census, WILLIAM was born in Halifax, Yorkshire.
Hazel has been looking for Edward for more than 10 years and she recently hired a
researcher to help. He did find an Edward in Lincolnshire but Hazel does not think he
fits the bill.
What she wants me to ask you concerns the Brighton Branch of Cardens. There are two
Edwards, one born 1823 and one born 1824. They would both be the right age to fit her
Edward. I think the father of one of them is William. Do you know anything about them?
Do you think they are worth a look?
I will pass a message on to Hazel.
Best wishes to all,
Lynn Bateman
