Dave Collins -
John Carden of Templemore who married Rebecca Minchin in 1717 actually had
three sons, John 1720, Minchin 1722 and Paul 1723. John carried on the
Templemore line and none of his descendants carry the name Minchin. Ditto
Paul, who founded what I call the Kyffin branch. Minchin Carden founded the
Fishmoyne branch, a great many of whom carry the Minchin name, right down to
Christopher John Minchin Carden born 1971, a son of the Richard Carden who
helped me organise the Carden Gathering in 1998.
I am sending you by post my draft chapter on the Fishmoyne branch. Sorry, no
mention of a Whitaker.
I have been in contact with an Australian Carden family descended from
Humphrey Minchin Carden, born about 1850, ancestry and where born not known
(not registered England & Wales). Sorry, don't have the details here with me
in Portugal.
Suggest you contact
www.one-name.org to see if any member of the Guild of One
Name Studies is studying Minchin, and have a look under Minchin in the
Genealogical Research Directory. I think Minchin was quite a prominent Irish
family. I will post a query on the Co Tipperary rootsweb list, to which I
subscribe.
Not much help I am afraid!
Good luck. Arthur Carden.
