Friday i didn't have to work so i took off for
Russellville Al., in Franklin Co. to the Archives
building to go through the marriage records, boy did i
get a suprise.
i really wasn't expecting to find so many of my
Carden's married in Franklin Co. but also found a
bunch of my Campbell's as well.
i found my grandfather's sister that i had been
looking for :
Palestine Carden & P.H. Carroll
21 Dec. 1913.........J.B. Camp , M.G.
i also found found the name of the lady who was my
g-grandfather, James Polk Carden's second wife, no one
in the family seem to know who she was and her marker
only says Bessie C. with the date of death.
J.P. Carden & Bessie Calliocott
18 Apr. 1910 .......J.R. Coalson, M.G.
but what i found in Vol. IIB , 1897-1902 really proved
what i had wondered about for so long, according to my
mother, the ages she had given me for my grandparents
at the time the families moved from DeKalb Co. was at
about 16 or 17 yrs. old which would have placed the
years at abt. 1903-04 but here's the marriage record
that proved that wrong.
Lillian V. Carden & G.W. Hall
( Lillian Victoria Carden & George Washington Hall)
Aug. 20, 1901
S.W. Lee, M.G.
Lillian was one of the daughters of my gg-grandfather,
John Carden.
George was the son of John's 4th wife Martha Hammett
Hall and her first husband , there was another one of
her chldren who had married back into the Carden
family , making their children double first cousins.
