Hi, listers -
I give below a copy of a message which I have sent directly to seven
intending participants in our Carden DNA Project. It is self-explanatory I
think. If there is anyone thinking of participating who has not received the
message direct, please tell me!
Typical! We invent something in Britain (Oxford Ancestors was the first to
offer DNA testing for genealogy, and of course Watson & Crick discovered the
DNA double-helix), but within no time at all someone in USA does it better!

I have not heard from you as to whether you have sent off a sample to Oxford
Ancestors yet for DNA testing, although I know you are intending to do so.
This is an urgent note to say WAIT !!!
DO NOT SEND YOUR SAMPLE TO OXFORD ANCESTORS UNTIL YOU HEAR FROM ME AGAIN !!!
The reason is that I am considering whether I should recommend that all
future tests should be carried out by FamilyTreeDNA of the USA rather than by
Oxford Ancestors. This is partly because FTDNA have reduced their prices and
now charge a third less than does OA and partly because they test 12 loci on
the Y-chromosome instead of OA's 10 loci (nine loci are the same for both
organisations, so almost perfect comparisons can be made with the twenty
tests already carried out).
More information to follow in a few days time. Meanwhile I would much
appreciate a message from you as to whether you have, or have not, sent off
the sample yet.
Arthur.
