Elisa, it is possible the Carden line came from Scotland originally, then to
Ireland then stopped off in England before coming to the US? Wouldn't that
be something if the Cochrans and Cardens were allies in Scotland. Edinburg
is not too far from Paisley.

I've been reading the postings and wonder if any of you have any
connection with Joseph Carden, who lived in Botetourt County, VA, in the
1770-17790s. I've been unable to prove he's kin to the Cardens in the
Goochland area.

Hello Dick, I have a Joseph W. Carden, married to Judith Kenner. There has
been some debate over where this family fits in but supposedly, his
parents
are James J. Carden (my gggg grandfather) and his first wife, Sarah
DePriest. I have no proof of this however.

Yeah I'm descended from Leonard too, so I guess we're distant cousins.?
I've always felt such an affinity for anything Scottish so I think we may
have been mixed at some point.? My grandfather was a mason which I don't
know much about but the sight of those guys in their garb aligned on a
hillside behind the cemetary when paw paw died and the bagpipes playing
was like right out of the movies.

Hi Elisa,
I know it's been very quiet in the past months.? Glad to see everyone is
doing well.? Loved hearing from you and Martha in past years about your
line since we are only a couple of generations/ancestors removed from each
other.
Yes bagpipes are moving, just amazing.
