Cathy:
Hey cuz,I think we've all been stumped at the Joseph/Mary Carden point.
You are of the Joseph line, while I am of the Isaac (his brother) line. Records in
Botetourt County, where our two ancestors were living in the late 1700s, speak of a Joseph
who was excused from road duty because of his "age and infirmities." I don't
believe that this could be a reference to Mary's Joseph, as several children were born
some years after that court order was entered. Just speculation, of course, but given the
dates, Mary's Joseph would have been only in his 30's, and it seems unlikely to me
that a man in his 30's would have been referred to by "age and infirmities."
That said, however, I've been unable to locate any earlier reference to any Joseph.
Do stay in touch!
Best regards,
Dick Carden

It certainly is good to see some chatter again :)
And this chatter is of real interest! We are also descended from Joseph
Carden and Judith Kenner...our mother was Katherine Lucille Rose Carden.
Most of you have been to our website at
lightpatch.com but like most of
the rest of you ...we're kind of stuck at Joseph. Am really looking
forward to following how all this turns out!
Had a new contact today from someone who is part of the same group...and
will try and get him in touch with everyone as soon as I can place where
he fits :)
Hope you all have a good evening!
