Maybe Arthur Carden could tell you although I don't remember reading anything about
them in his books.
However, my stepmother is from Elgin, Scotland and she says there is a Carden Farm and
other establishments in that area in her memory.

Has anyone found information on what Clan the Scottish Carden line (this would be the
ancestors of David M. Carden (1792-1878 Veteran of War of 1812)) who came to "the
colonies" -Goochland Co VA, in the 1600's?
I know through DNA testing from relatives that this particular Carden line (my ancestors)
were orginally of the Scottish Cardens.
From my understanding of history, the Scotts Carden's were
"peers" and Carden name was originally Celtic and was Anglicanized at some point
before the 1500's or during that time. I also know Carden Tower is somewhere outside
of Edinbugh, Scotland.
My understanding is the Irish Carden line came to the US in the 1800's... and that
some of the African American Carden's adopted the name Carden from their
"masters" (yes, some Carden's- including David M. Carden- were slave holders
according to the 1850 slave census-- I have the docs attached to my tree if anyone wants
them-- certainly not a proud part of the family history but a part)...
But, back to the original question- Does anyone know which Scots Clan we decend from?
