Jack,
Sounds like you've had as much trouble with your James as I have had with my
Owen.
Is the picture of your James on Trish's website? I would love to see what
he looked like.
I still think my Owen or O.H.R. belongs somehow to the John Carden, that
came from Goochland Co. Va. He may have been his father or grandfather, but
I believe he connects with him somehow.
Becky

Mike,
Let me give you a rundown on my Cardin dilemma.
My gggrandfather was Benjamin Franklin Cardin, 1822-1910. He purportedly
was
born in Jasper county but spent all of his life in Henry County. His
father
was James Cardin, 1790-1858. This James was in Jasper county in 1817
where
he married a Polly Hay(s). He moved into Henry County by 1830 and is on
census records there. His wife died sometime early on as he married a
widow,
Sarah Richards, and they had one daughter, Sarah Elizbeth. After
James
died
in 1858, Sarah and daughter are back in Jasper county where she
evidently
was from. This is all that I have been able to document. Tradition has it
that James was a son of a John Cardin from Goochland county, Va but I have
not been able to document that. There was a John Cardin in Clarke county
Georgia on the 1810 tax list who also had property in Wilkinson county.
Also, in Clarke county, Ga in 1807 was a Robert and Jane Carden.
Going back to Henry county, Ga, a William Carden was a witness to a land
transaction by my James. Could this William be the William from Jasper
county? I have a photo of my James Cardin and his son Benjamin F.
Mike, or any Lister, if any of this rings a bell with you I would
appreciate
any info you might have or any suggestions.
Jack
