Subject: [CARDEN-L] Lewis Carden, 1805, of PA
On May 22nd I posted the message part of which I quote below. Sadly no one
has replied yet.
Bill now tells me he found the census information on Trish's site, where she
says it was supplied by Chuck, as follows:
1850 census.
PA, Clearfield County,
Lewis Carden, 45, M, farmer, real estate 800
Birthplace France.
Now then, please, who knows something to help Bill?
Arthur
The thing which fascinated Bill was that his ancestor, Sergeant George
Carden, was born in France in 1818. He speculates that Lewis was his brother
(called Louis at birth?). Perhaps their father was a soldier too, and on the
way back from the battle of Waterloo in 1815, fathered a couple of children
in France (with the help of a French camp-follower?)
