Jessie Jewel Hickey Carden
TEXAS CITY - Jessie Jewel Hickey Carden departed this life on July 8, 2005,
at Mainland Medical Center in Texas City, Texas.
She was born January 30, 1925 in Kingston, Hunt County, Texas. Ms. Carden
graduated from Celeste High School in 1942, where she was a member of the
Blue Devils Basketball Team. She was of the Church of Christ faith.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Laura Vivian Pye Hickey
and Walter Wilkins Hickey; sister, Rosalee Hickey Brown; brothers, Walter
Alton Hickey, Robert Henry Hickey, Lester Herman Hickey, and Marvin Ray
Hickey; daughter, Judy Francine Carden Schilder; and grandson, Jesse Dylan
Ray.
She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Walter H. Carden; sons, Donald
L. Carden, Kenneth A. Carden, David Ray Carden, and Larry Bob Carden;
daughters, Marilyn J. Morrison, Jeauquitte Joyce Chambers, Rhonda Faye
Howell, Ramona Jean King, Rhenette Ann Carden and Cordelia Lynn Carden. She
is also survived by 25 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Sunday, July 10, 2005, from 12-2 p.m., at Carnes Funeral
Home. A service will follow at 2 p.m., with Eddie Lopez and David Ray Carden
officiating. Following the service, the body will be donated for medical
research, per her request.
