Hi Chuck,
I think that the AOL's system is still incompatible w/ certain forms of
HTML coming to it from other servers. Several years ago I was exchanging
info. w/ a couple of researchers who were on AOL. They often mentioned that
my text messages to them looked like someone had drawn a line through each
line of the text, making it very hard to read. We finally figured out that
if I sent their messages in PLAIN text mode then the 'strike outs' went
away. Evidently MSN & most other servers have solved the incompatibility
w/ different forms of HTML or hyper text, but AOL still hasn't.

The rootsweb instructions are that all messages to the list should be PLAIN
not HTML. (Do you agree, Jim? Hi, Jim, are you still there?) I would much
appreciate it, Martha, if you (and everyone else) would do that! Then I, for
one, will not have to read through the silly strike-outs inserted by silly
AOL. Indeed, I see very few advantages in ever using HTML for emails.
Thanks, Arthur.
