RE: John Slatton's Co. - War of 1812 -- Joseph W. Carden
An interesting note about John Slatton is that he was the brother of my
husband Terry's 3GGF - Aaron Slatton (sp. also Slaton, Slayton, etc.)
who settled in Hall Co, GA, while his brother John stayed in Hawkins
Co,TN after the War of 1812.
Terry's teased me that we're not only cousins (related by blood abt. 10
gen. ago in one line), but now one of his collateral ancestors was 'the
boss of' one of mine <HA> ! I don't know that this Carden line is
actually any part of my line at all, yet to me 'a Carden by any name is
still mine' <S> !
FYI, this Slatton/Slaton/Slayton line migrated from - Hanover Co,VA to
Surry Co, NC bf/ the Revolution, then abt. 1783 moved on to claim their
Rev. bounty land in the Saluda Co, SC (Greenville) area.
Cheers, Martha
