Thanks for the welcome! My gg grandmother's (America Ann Carden Ingles Rose) parents
(ggg grandparents on the Carden side) were shown to be William and Mary Lacy Carden. This
I found on a wedding notice
from St. John's Church in Richmond, VA. America Ann Carden, widow of a Mr. Ingles,
and Robert Rose, widower, married February 5, 1865. I don't know where George Carden
comes in, unless he was America Ann's
grandfather??? I would love to have some information on the Carden side, and have been
corresponding with a Carden cousin in Arizona, and trying to figure out how we are
related. Maybe your list will
help?
Funny thing, I have Lacy's on my grandmother's and grandfather's sides, too.
Is there anthing that shows a Carden/Lacy connection other than my ggg grandmother?

Welcome to the list, Jo!
Fascinating to hear from a member of what I call the "Cardens of Romsey"
branch. If you will send me your postal address I will send you a copy of my
20-page document on the branch.
It only mentions your George as one of the children of another George Carden
who appears in the 1851 census, as below, and until your posting I knew
nothing of his descendants other than what appears in the 1881 census. But I
think you will be interested I the rest of the family and the stuff about
Romsey in my document. When I send it I'll try to comment on your Lily
puzzle!
GEORGE CARDEN. Born Romsey 1833. Married 10 July 1853 Jane Gifford (?) at
Romsey. Issue Martha 1859, Alfred 1863, George 1870, Frank (?) 1872.
Looking forward to hearing from you.
Arthur Carden (currently in France, but soon to be back in England)
