SPEAKING OF THE NAME -- JOHN CARDEN
I just wanted you to know that I've never seen the name JAMES CARDEN in
print for my 3G.G.F. Just took it on another cousin's 'say so.' However,
in going thru some recent info. sent by a different CARDEN cousin via
'snail mail', I've now seen a reference to my 3G.G.F.- JHR CARDEN's father
-
being JOHN instead of James.
JHR Carden (1821-1899) lived in Shelby Co, AL; was born most likely in
Greene Co, AL. He stated on the 1880 SHelby Co, AL census that his father
was born in NC (abt. 1790) and his mother in SC.
This is only one reference, but I feel the need to 'chase it down' ;
especially since some of Becky Carden's Pike Co, GA CARDEN's & a couple of
Mike Collins' CARDEN's look somewhat like mine in their pictures. IF my
CARDEN line came to AL from GA instead of TN as previously thought, then
that would be a major breakthrough !
Also, in Elisa Sanford's info. (below) there was this ref. to two CARDEN's
in Virginia. Does anyone know that these two CARDEN men (listed below) were
brothers ? Do you know if the DAVIS girls who mar. them were sisters? Does
this branch of Virginia CARDEN's connect with any kin in North Carolina that
anyone knows about; or did one (or both) of these men migrate to NC ?

Martha,
Hope you had a nice visit, with the new grandbaby.
Yes, my cousin and I have discussed the Yoen, or Ewen or whateve his name
was, and have wondered about him, since Owen, is spelled similar, but I just
don't really think its him.
I really feel, that its either that John Carden or the David Carden over
there in Pike Co. Ga.
My cousin sent me the 1820 census for Jasper Co. Ga., and they were listed
on there, and the John is listed as having more children, than Mike Collins
has listed! So, we are wondering, if there might be a possibility that Owen
is one of them. Everyone, feels, that its either John or his son David,
that is the father.

Hi, just before going out the door, I read this mail from Elisa Sanford
(another CARDEN researcher) and noticed the YOUEN CARDEN name. Do you think
that's yours?
Also, I noticed Leland CARDEN's name...the one that lady who wrote me
yesterday said I should contact about Phenix City, AL CARDEN's...
Gotta run... Martha
