Jack,
I haven't done a study on how children were named but you might find this
webpage of mine helpful. I went out on the web several years ago and
collected Old German, Irish 1800's, Scottish 1700 - 1800, early Dutch,
English and Welsh 1700-1870 naming patterns.

Subject: [Carden] Names
Has anyone done a study on how children were named (sons and daughters) in
the 18th, 19th centuries. Am trying to sort out family mysteries and I
believe it lays in how children were named. Anyone can help?
