I'm Jerry Carden, Urbana, IL- the first William listed was my
g,g,g,grandfather. I've posted this to the list before and
would be delighted if anyone else on the list ties to this Carden branch.
1)William Carden b. 1795 Yorkshire, England, died 1881 in Iowa
m. Sarah Radcliffe b. 1799 they married in 1817 she died 1879
(they came to Maine in 1819 and then settled in Cincinnati area, some of their
kids stayed in Ohio and I'm sure other lines in that area descend from William
and Sarah. They moved to Iowa later to join sons William and John.
He worked in the wool trade in England and later helped his sons farm in Iowa.
2)William Carden b. 1828 in Ohio he died 1866 in Iowa
m. Isabella S. Miller b. 1830 she died 1890
(they married in Ohio then came to Des Moines County, Iowa, as did several
siblings- they homesteaded a farm, 7 sons & 1 daughter. The farmhouse, built
in 1858, is still standing and in pretty good condition, (a pic of this family
in front of the farmhouse is on Trish's website)
3)Edwin A. Carden b. 1863 d. 1938 Des Moines Co., IA
m. Netta Anderson b. 1870 they married 1921 she died 1933
(was a farmer, had six brothers, one sister- I have names))
(Edwin's picture is on Trisha's website)
4)Max A. Carden b. 1898 d. 1976 Des Moines Co., IA
m. Mary Lydia Van Osdol in 1921 she died 1980
5)Floyd Van Carden b. 1924

Floyd was the only son and farmed following WW2, still farming the homesteaded
land in Iowa today...)
