Thanks for responding. My Great Grandfather was John Carden, born Sligo,
Ireland 1832. To the US in 1851, settled in Phelps, NY. In 1856 came to
Chicago, Illinois. He was at age 19 and a BrewMaster when he came across,
but what ship I do not know. Have traced all that I know of, and cannot
find him on any =. He founded the Gambrinus Brewery and American Malting
Company. Had one daughter and two sons. But, typical of Irish families all
went to the sons upon death. My Grandmother Mary Carden Buckley, also from
Chicago, and she died in 1938.
Take care. Ray Conlin

Dear Ray
I am not closely related to any Carden's from
Chicago that I know of. My Father was origonally from
Pollard Alabama, he was the son of Lester Carden also
of Alabama. My grandfather was from a large family
7 children. Most of them stayed in the South. I am
just starting to trace the family tree from my Great
Grandfather downwards, which is part of the reason
that I signed up to roots web.
